FROM CONTEMPT, FROM HATRED…

It is remarkable that in the 21st century, in a well-developed country and society in Central Europe, which enjoys a relatively high level of prosperity, we still have to explain what decency, truth and solidarity mean. Why do we still listen to people who openly lie a dozen or so times a day? Why do we so often entrust our lives to spiritual guides to whom we would not, in fact, delegate even the simplest task, such as walking our dog? Why do so many of us look down upon and hate other people whom we do not even know? Why are so many of us, despite a sheer deluge of information on a global scale, consumed by a fear of others?

As ever, there are no easy answers, but we will try to address these questions in our theatre. We will also try to explore within ourselves what remains of spirituality, empathy and solidarity, before all that is left to us is Natan Tenenbaum’s ‘Prayer at Sunrise’.
