Performative reading of ‘Ideologix’
BASED ON WITKACY’S ‘THEY’

On 4 November at 7pm, the Machine House will host a performative reading of Ideologix, produced within a grant from the Polish-American Fulbright Commission in collaboration with the Juliusz Słowacki Theatre in Krakow.

Ideologix is a queer, audience-engaging fantasy about our world based on Witkacy's ‘They’, created by EriNox, an American playwright and director. The story revolves around Flo and Bambi, a queer couple organising an underground ‘Ideologix’ party. Everything is going beautifully and colourfully until THEY appear... THEY are everywhere and everyone. They are not just the guys who have moved into the building and want to ruin the party. THEY are not only Cristina, Bozena and other people who experience the underground queer scene for the first time. THEY can be dangerous. THEY are probably already coming to get you. THEY may even already be you.

ERI NOX (they/them) – a noxgenderqueer playwright and creator of mesmerising electro-dance-operas, whose works have been created and performed on stages in New York – at The Public Theater, Rattlestick Playwright's Theater, La Mama ETC, Theater Breaking Through Barriers, The Tank and others – as well as in Los Angeles, Edinburgh, Berlin and other cities. Nox works out of Cloud City, Brooklyn. They are the founder of Playmachine Performance Lab (playmachine.org). They have also received two Fullbright awards, the Brooklyn College's Himan Brown award, and the Tow Foundation International Research Fellowship award. Originally from California, they hold a BA in Art from The New York School and an MA in Fine Arts from Brooklyn College (where they are currently teaching). They live in New York.

DJ AVTOMAT – a man of too many interests: an openly queer composer, music producer, DJ and vocalist, member of Oramics and Ciężki Brokat collectives, one of the co-founders of the Kapitał Radio, Polish ambassador of Keychange. Graphic designer, typographer and 3D illustrator. Over the last 11 years he has undergone numerous metamorphoses – from fascination with purely synthetic sounds, through polyphonic singing with the Pleśni project, to rhythmically distorted club sounds from the EPs titled 'Gusła (Human Rites)' and 'Doolska', which was released as a limited vinyl edition by London's 51-53 Records. He has presented his music at festivals such as Unsound, Up To Date, Tauron Nowa Muzyka, Audioriver and Spring Break, as well as in countless clubs. He has also created music for theatre performances. In clubs, his thirteen years of experience on the queer, anti-fascist and underground scene result in an almost annoyingly eclectic lexicon of the most progressive sounds of today's electronic arena. In his series of mixes during club events (Ciężki Brokat, W Mocy Nocy, Dystopia), he combines rare rhythmic divisions, spicing everything up with live improvised vocals.

MAGDALENA WIELGOŁASKA – for more than 16 years she has been combining her professional career with activism and human rights work with a main focus on LGBT+ and women's rights. Co-founder of the organisations Tolerado, Sistrum, HominemQuero - Szukam Człowieka. A supporter of the Strefa Zieleni Foundation. Since 2015 she has also been involved in promoting knowledge regarding the medical use of cannabis. Throughout her years as an activist, she has also gained valuable experience as a translator and journalist.
