Augustynowicz is reading Revenge in a world where our romantic world of Gustav-Konrads and Kordians is becoming more and more debased by the likes of Cześnik and the Notary. She brings out the beauty and rhythm of a poem at a time when poetry is so rare. She does not obediently follow Fredro, she changes the optics. She is looking at us through the eyes of the rejected, the unwanted. She is seeking laughter, but not the simple, village fair kind, but the laughter of a jester.
